I am currently doing a HNC in Engineering and I am thinking of doing a project involving a 3210. I know it may sound a bit lame with all this new technology about and all that, but would it be possible to be able to send signals straight into the CPU (and to which pins) to make the phone think that it was having the down button and then the menu button pressed consecutively? Any help would be GREATLY (believe me!) appreciated, otherwise I am going to have to think of something else to do...
Many, many thanks!

Ok, if you don't have or you would not use to PC to controll the phone, one way could be some data enabled phone that can be controlled by AT-commands.
By using AT-commands only thing you need is serial bus (RS-232) to phone. You can set up calls, send SMS messages etc.

What about storing the relevant number in a speed-dial key..? Then it would be quite simple for you to externally trigger the call - ie, by shorting the relevant keypad circuit, as if the key was being pressed. Seems much simpler than your original suggestion
