problem related status pane

I want to customize status pane.
How can i do it??
OR
how can I hide all items presented on status pane
and display any image which covers new status pane.
Kindly help me.

Would it be easier that you would simply use full screen in your applicatoin and draw whatever you want on the upper part of the applications screen. The efect would be same in the end, without worrying on customizing any system components.
