I hope this is the right section....

    Hi to all!
I have a problem: when i try to launch the emulator (located in
    c:\Symbian\8.1a\S60_2nd_FP3\Epoc32\Release\Winscw\Udeb\Epoc.exe)
my antivirus (Avira AntiVir Personal) detects it as TR/Dropper.Gen....

I have always used the emulator (with the antivirus enabled) but it never detected the emulator....

How is it possible? Should i reinstall the SDK?

    Thanks

Change your Anti-Virus software because you have to have Emulator for development. ;)

The emulator may have been infected after installation on your computer or you have a false positive. Most antivirus products have tools that allow submission of suspected files to their analysis laboratories and you should use such a channel to have the file analyzed and if appropriate whitelisted.

Infected or not, the emulator is part of the SDK and not of Carbide.c++ so I'm moving this thread to the appropriate forum.

    Hi!

I have uninstalled the s60_2nd_fp3 SDK....
After that, i've launched the installation, but the antivirus detected a lot of dangerous files:

    TR/Dropper.Gen
    C32EXE.EXE
    COMSDBGSVR.EXE
    NPACKETADMIN.EXE
    CONNMONEXE.EXE

    TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen
    E32STRT.EXE

At this point I've stopped the installation... thinking that my s60_2nd_fp3.rar was infected...

so i have downloaded again the SDK from Forum Nokia, but nothing changed... the antivirus still detects those files...

The strange thing is that when i 've installed the SDK for the first time, i had no problems...

Check your entire system for viruses and you may want to try another antivirus too, just in case yours has some door open and you have undetected bugs on the system.

It could be also a problem with the signatures, they may have added something recently that triggers false alarms. As said before you should really contact the antivirus company and have them look at the problem

Are you using Avira AntiVir ? If yes this is very likely to be false positive.

I also have the same warning regarding epoc.exe (but for the S60 2nd FP2 emulator) and ecmtlauncher.EXE.

I have submitted a false positive detection to Avira as any other antivirus (Kaspersky, BitDefender, Nod32, F-Secure, Avastn Panda, etc...) report the very same file as clean.
