Saving Files Vs Symbain Signed Criteria

Hi All,

My App conforms to all symbian signed criterias except one:

The App allows the user to create and save files in paths other than private folder. There is this one criteria which says the when the app is uninstalled all the files it has created should be removed. However my point of argument is that the user has chosen to create the file s not the App, hence this feature should confirm to test, should it not??
Is mine a valid argument??? I would like the experts and champions to clarify this post for me. Any help/Direction in this regard would be truly appreciated.

Make a executable that is run during uninstallation, that asks user whether he/she wants to delete the files, and then act accordingly.

You can of course apply for a waiver from that particular test case when the application produces documents which are stored in user accessible areas (so that the user can remove them using the file manager).

Example: an application that allows the user to take pictures and saves them in [Data]\Images will not have to delete them on uninstall, however all pictures that are temporarily saved in a location which is not accessible to the Media Gallery application should be deleted on uninstall.

So, my advice: apply for a waiver an justify why the documents should remain on the device and how the user can remove them if he wants.

My Application lets users store files in Accessible areas. So this means that i do not have to apply for an waiver??

If it contradicts still the generic testing criteria then it is safer to apply for a waiver before submitting the app, this way you do not risk it being rejected for this minor reason.

No. You cannot apply for a waiver in Express signing.
