I am developing an application, and now there is a situation, where i have to read sms from inbox of the mobile phone. I am developing the application for nokia 3110 mobile set.

Is it possible to read SMS from specific mobile number only?

    Hi,

AFAIK the S40 devices does not allow to access the native phone inbox.

For your second question, if you want to read SMS from a specific number (I hope you are talking abt your own SMS center), you need to define your own SMS format, use some port and PUSH regostry.

    Regards
    Amit

There is no J2ME alternative. If you want to do it, write the app in C++ for Symbian/S60 based phones (won't help you with S40, though, so with those you're out of luck).

    Hi,

In case you insist using J2ME, you have no choice but have your own application inbox. The application listens to a specific port to which other systems send message to.

That means, a mobile phone without an appropriate application is unable to send message to your application.

I´m faceing a similar problem. I work on S60 and I need to be able to catch incoming sms. The problem is that I can´t tell the sms service to send sms on the specific port.

    I would need to:
-Automaticly look into the sms inbox for sms (text + phonenumber)
    - or listen for incoming sms wich are not sent on a specific port

I searched through the web, but I didn´t really got a clear answer.

"Yes or No". Are any of these two things possible for S60 JME applications?

    NO.

With J2ME, definitely the application only can listen the incoming message to a specific port.

    THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE. UNFORTUNATELY.

Think of Symbian if you want to read the Inbox.
