Infra red connection problem with 9210

Can anyone help me with an infra red problem I have?

I cannot get my 9210 to recognise or communicate to my infra red adaptor on my pc.The infra red adaptor recognises my phone but my phone will not respond to it when the infra red is activated.
HELP!!!
