playing mp3/wav files from widget?

Hi all,

Is there any way to play mp3 (or any other format of sound files) from the widget context?
as far as my research took me, I could'nt find any exposed API for this (except for the sysinfo beep ).

I tried to use flash soundmanager (http://www.schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager/), but with no success !

Hi,

Maybe you can try using a flash app to play the sound file and then embed the flash app in your widget?

I think all you need to do is use an embed tag and set src to url of the sound file. Docs indicate that the sound player plug-in should support common sound formats like MP3, aac, midi.

<embed src="url.mp3"></embed>

The WRT browser will display a play and stop button console on screen where you place the embed tag.

I havent tested yet but there may be other parameters you can use though there is no further documentation on the embed tag.

Problem solved,

Here is some sharing regarding this issue:

1. I tried to use the embed tag as hp3 adviced, but I had no success with making it play the sound automatically, but on click only.
2. I didn't try the flash app... (maybe will get to it later)
3. the following worked for me:

<object type="audio/x-mpeg" data="url.mp3" width="0" height="0" autoplay="true">
</object>

the width and height are "0" because I want no controller to appear in the page, tried also 'hidden' and 'controller' params but without success.

i am trying to play remote mp3 url.(http://www.xxx.com/audio/song1.mp3). i am testing on nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
