Encoding of special German chars

We are deveoping a application to read and create SMS messages.

We just have a problem with the encoding of special german characters like .
Nokia (like any other) mobiles can diaplay SMS created with our application without any problems. But if I create the same test SMS () with a NOKIA phone the encoding seems to be completly different to Spec GSM 03.38 .
Do NOKIA mobiles use a second encoding schema?

Hello!

Could you give us some more information. I did test some of our phones and coding was the same when sending message including some German specific characters. All characters were from GSM character table.
