    I want to browse the file system in the phone to select the image that i want to display in the widget. Please advice on how to make it? Thanks.

    A widget doesn't have rights to access the local file system.

    But browser plug-ins can do it.

    Why give us an API that grants access to the media library (i.e. photos) but not let us load them in the widget?
