When I store an entry with AT+CPBW on the phone strange characters are displayed on the phone. (I had Tried using "+CSCS Select TE character set", with the following allowed values: "GSM","PCCP437","PCDN","IRA","8859-1","HEX".)
Anyone knows how to do that?
Thanks in advance.

What kind of strange characters? I tested this command by setting the CSCS ISO 8859-1 (usually default), an the I wrote some enties to SIM succesfully.
hello!
I also tested "at+cpbw" by setting the CSCS ISO 8859-1 (usually default), an the I wrote some enties to SIM but not succesfully. ( using Hyperterm !)
thanks !
AT+CSCS does not have anything to do with the way the message is stored in the phone. You have to set the correct data coding scheme value using at+csmp command in order to affect the data coding scheme of the stored messages data. AT+CSCS simply affects the presentation of characters on your terminal window.
Usually the phone is only capable of showing correctly data which is using the 7 bit GSM default alphabet data coding scheme (GSM specification 03.38).

After sending at+cpbw=40,"1234",129,"NAME" via terminal windows application to a Nokia 8210 the phone is responding with ok. But after selecting this entry in the phone only rectangles are displayed where "NAME" is expected. The number "1234" of the transferred entry is displayed correct. Reading this entry with at+cpbr=40 returns "NAME" and "1234" as the number.
( setting the CSCS ISO 8859-1 )
i met the same question on my 8210
