Which Nokia phones support WAP 1.2 Push protocol? How does one send a formatted SMS to a phone to initialize a WAP Push session? What is the SMS format for WAP Push messages?
Nokia 8310 is the first Nokia phone to support push and WAP1.2.1. Nokia 8310 supports WAP Push Service Indication. The Push message is delivered to the Nokia 8310 via SMS. Push messages are used to inform the terminal about the new content on the origin server. Push message types are Service Indication, Service Loading, Session Initialisation Application messages.
Here is basic information of the Push message sending:
A service application that needs to send a WAP Push Service Indication (SI) should send a HTTP POST to the WAP Push Proxy Gateway (PPG). Application developers need to take care of:
a) The format of the body of the message: it has to comply to the format specified by WAP specification.
b) Authentication: WAP PPG's may impose some form of access control and may control actual sending of the SI to subscribers.
c) Possibly processing of notifications by the PPG.
An article posted at "http://www.mail-archive.com/users@kannel.3glab.org/msg02090.html" descripbed the push SMS format. After testing, it works fine on Siemens and SonyEricsson's phone, but can't work on Nokia's, even including 7650
I'v received push message by Nokia8310. So whant's the difference between this two type of push messages? Is the message received by Nokia8310 also works with other brand phones?
