Npacket.dll error

Hi,

I'm trying to configured my emulator to get ethernet conection following the instructions from:
http://www.symbian.com/developer/tec...net/index.html

Everything looks ok but when I run the instruction perl configchange.pl --config ethernetWithCommDB --kernel EKA2 --target winscw --variant UDEB, I got a windows error that says NPacket.dll not found.

Anybody knows what does it means?

1. i was not able to open that page.

2. It seems you are using 3rd edition sdk
in that case, just launch the emulator and in settings, make sure if you use proxy, the settings are valid, you do not need to do anything extra.
I have used internet on my emulator for all the 3rd edition sdks now, and never ever done any special configuration.

If it is not 3rd edition, then we could discuss other causes.

Hi,
In case your requirement is to have internet connection in emulator have you tried the command EnableLanconnection.cmd.
Try to run this command from command line by closing your emulator it will setup the ethernet connection for your emulator.

I'm using S60 Third Edition Feature Pack 2.

S60 3rd Edition emulators do not need ethernet configuration, they work out of the box using Winsock. The only thing that you may need to configure is the proxy server (if one is required) using emulator's preferences dialog (Tools->Preferences from emulator window's menu)

Well for 3rd FP2 emulator, I didn't do any special configuration... it just worked after installation.

the only problem which could otherwise happen is if you got to go through some proxy, where in, you need to open the emulator, and then go to Tools->Preferences and make sure you have given the correct proxy details ...

I follow your recommendations, I'm trying to test the httpexampleclient.cpp. And now I'm getting an <unreconized event -18>. I'm sure I don't need a proxy server. Any ideas?

I debugged my application and I get this error after a Panic KERN-EXEC 44 when I submit the request and execute CActiveScheduler::Start().

I know this is a very old thread, but I am facing the same error of npacket.dll not found when i run the configchange script. I'm also using the same SDK v3 FP 2 on vista. The reason I want to use internet over ethernet is that when I run the TCP client echo engine found in SDK documentation, I'm unable to see any relevant traffic in wireshark. I've read somewhere that symbian uses winsock and to make it share the ethernet card on the PC, one needs to use configchange script.

I don't know about the difference b/w winsock and the network TCP/IP stack... Please help !
