NEED HELP

Hello,

I am trying to express sign an application.

I have signed my sis file with a certification from trust center, (using signsis and signsis gui),
created a zip with the .pkg, signed.sis and a readme file,
and after completing all questionnaires, I am getting the following message:

"bad number of signatures"

with no further explanations.

Can anyone please shed some light on this? Also I have used VerifySymbianSinged tool as mentioned but I dont get the appropriate output.
I get only this as the output:

filetype: sisx (V9)
sis file: filename.sis

That has not helped me. Please suggest some method of getting through this.

with regard to the above link,

the sis file that we include in the zip file is sisx as it is signed! The sis file is signed using the right publisher ID. Correct me if I am wrong.

The sis file can be sign by self sign, if it have only basic capability.

Hello Ram,

I didnt get you fully.

I am using express signing. I have extracted the certificate and the key from the publisher ID. Using this following command:
tcp12p8 filename_PublisherID.pfx password my.key my.cer

I signed the sis file using the following command:
Signsis filename.sis filenameSigned.sis my.cer my.key

Please correct me if anything is wrong. I want to sign it using express signing.

I never used publisher Id for signing .sis file. I always used open sign online process.

It will be good to download complete symbian signing process document from given link.

Then you decide which symbian signing is required for your application.

From the sounds of it you re-signed a sis file that has already been signed with a developer certificate with the publisher id.

Take an UNSIGNED sis file and sign that with the publisher id then submit it.

No Paul, I have rechecked I am signing it for the first time. Also when I am using VerifySymbianSigned tool to check the publisher ID, a nul$ file which contains:

ERROR - When chaining to Symbian Signed chain ((null)) ------------------------------

is generated. Can that help you in helping me?

I am making use of a Publisher ID which was bought by our client. I am using my account for express signing. According to the symbian test criteria 3.0.2pdf, check 4, 'publisher ID you used to sign the sis file must match the publisher ID in your symbian signed account.', does this mean that I have to use the same account that my client used to buy the Pub ID?

I am stuck! Not finding any solution, No idea as to what is right! can anybody tell me about the check 4?

You do not have a PublisherID, your customer has one. Therfore your customer should be signing the package with its Publisher ID (your customer should never share its publisher ID with others) and submit it to Symbian Signed.

Aside from that, if you cannot verify that the sis file is signed with the publisher ID then something must be really wrong with the certificate you have ar with the procedures you apply.

Also, if my customer signs the application, will the UID that I have used in my application which happens to be protected, will it not affect in any way? I mean is it ok?

Is there any way where in I can use the publisher ID bought by my customer? Because me using it makes things simpler.

Publisher ID is a sensitive thing. However of your customer gives you that ID, you can freely use it.

But my application is not getting signed as it is not able to open the cer. Please guide me.

The Publisher ID is a company's electronic identification, pretty much like a passport for you and me. One does not give such things away unless there is absolute trust between parties.

If your client trusts you to use his Publisher ID then by all means, do it.

ok, so before I start using the ID do I have to do anything? like my customer granting me the permission or something like that?
