Is camera API (MCameraObserver) is a restricted capabilities? If so, I need to have a developer Certicate to use it?

There is camera plugin for Nokia 6600 that you can easily to develop camera application in the emulator. Is there a such plugin for S60 3rd edition?

    Thanks for your help!

You need a capability (which is described in the SDK Help page for CCamera), but it is a user grantable one, thus self-signing is enough

E-Series plugin (www.forum.nokia.com, Tools and SDKs / Symbian/C++ Tools) brings camera support to 3rd edition emulators (MR and FP1).

Thanks for your reply. It makes me a bit clear now. I have one more question : I have been assigned UIDs from Symbian long time ago for 1st and 2nd SDK development. Can I still use those UIDs for 3rd SDK development?

They might happen to work (if you check the table about UID ranges, it contains the old range as "legacy range" or similar), but it would be surely better to request new UID-s.

    Hi,

Is ES_Plug-in_for_S60_3rd_Edition_SDK_MR.zip also working for 3rd edition FP1?

It seems there is some people having trouble to use it rather than MR edition.

    Thanks,

There is a separate E-Series plugin for FP1, prefer that one for FP1 SDK.

I've installed the E-Series plugin for FP1 but it does not support camera in emulator. That means I have to use a real device for camera application development?

    Thanks

Hmm, I am really sorry. So the FP1 E-Series plugin does not seem to contain camera support...
You can try the MR one, either with an MR SDK, or try migrating it into your FP1 one (new files can be copied safely I think, however in case of files which are already present, you should check them prior to blindly overwriting the original - you may also consider creating a backup first).
