    Well,

It doesn't say whether he actually writes something, but he has installed python into his own personal Nokia E61i mobile phone He also supports the idea of having multiple runtimes available to users and developers:

"The key thing is that the most productive developers are happy developers, using the tools they like. Make them give up that tool and they will be a lot less productive of their time."
    Delighted,

    Good find !

He has also installed Ruby "rubbish" (only because it's a alpha version unusable until now. I don't critize on the Ruby language only on the interpreter on S60 !

    PyS60 for ever

    Hi guys,

I've been a fan of Python ever since Jurgen Scheible and I turned out to be the two speakers at the same event, at Yahoo! Research Berkeley, back in Sept 2005.

Python reminded me a lot of excitement that I saw (and did much to support) around Psion's "OPL" language in the 1990s.

Following our meeting in Berkeley, I invited Jurgen to speak at an Internal Symbian Seminars event in London, where he spoke particularly well. I was pleased to support the publication by Symbian Press of the book "Mobile Python: Rapid Prototyping of Applications on the Mobile Platform".

It doesn't say whether he actually writes something
I also have LightNotepad installed on my E61i, and I occasionally modify some scripts on the device, to demonstrate a point when talking to a journalist, analyst, or developer.

He has also installed Ruby "rubbish" (only because it's a alpha version unusable until now. I don't critize on the Ruby language only on the interpreter on S60)
I'd much prefer the description "Research" to "rubbish", since that's what it is - something that allows:

    1. Investigation of general problems associated with scripting environments
    2. A focus, for the moment, on engine-level (including networking) functionality
    3. Consideration of embedding some Ruby elements inside an application written in another language
    4. Meeting the needs of a specific EU-sponsored collaborative research project

It's been a fascinating experiment, with lots of learning for my team - which I'll write up in due course.

Yes, OPL was a great language on Nokia 9300 too (S80) at this time ...

Yes, good book. I recommend it and AFAIK it's the only one about PyS60

Good editor but PED is better for PyS60 IMHO

Okay Ruby S60 (YARV implementation) is Research development. But it has much less advanced features than PyS60
PyS60 had more advanced features than Ruby S60 in his first version 1.0 So PyS60 is fully usable and has been adopted by hobbyst programmer like OPL before !
