    Hi!

Is it possible to use different icon sizes for different nokia devices?
If I use for exampe an 53x53 icon, then it looks good on an S60 3rd FP2 device, but it looks weird on an other device, that has a smaller screen.
Is there a good solution for this problem?

    Thanks,
    palako

Ultimately, the solution is to have different JARs. Nokias will usually stretch an icon to fit, but it will look rubbish. Many other devices will not stretch an icon at all, and may refuse to display an icon of the wrong size.

    Hi,
Well you can not use the single image for the icon and you expect that every device set it and set perfect..you have to have the different images for the devices according to the what it support.

you can go through these links,

Hope these lines can help you,

    Thanks with Regards,

    Thank you for the answers!
So, is it impossible to use only _one_ jar file, with a few icon sizes, and the device will use the best of these?

No, you only get to specify one icon file. You are doomed to a life of a million JARs.

    Hi,
No!, you can not do that...not possible..
How the device select the image for the icon is as follows -
    MIDlet-1: CrazyMonkey1,/icon.png,CrazyMonkey1
No matter how many images you have inside the jar file..device has the concern only for the image written there in parameter.
Hope these lines can clear you issue,
    Thanks,

    hi,

Ok, I know how the device select the icon. I'm just try to find a solution, to use only one jar on many device, not only one specific jar on one specific device.
Does nokia have an API or something, that I can use, to change the icon at runtime?
(Like RIM has an api to do this)

    Thx,
    palako

    No, there is no way.

Either you have no icon (and the device will use a default), or you supply one. If you supply one, it might appear, it might not. It might appear and it might look like crap.

There is no "one JAR fits all" solution.
