is it possible to specify a location of a picture (x,y axis in pixels) and then resize/move it?
also is it possible to get user input from the keys (like in snake)?

i don't see why you can't use php to write subsitute java/object orientated programs, be careful as to how much info is being passed from the handset to the script and back again. The slowness of the modem i think will be the biggest problem. I think you could probably play tick tac toe or a very asimple chess this way.
