I would like to know if there is any explicit size limit to preferences set with setPreferenceForKey() method. I've checked around the Web Developer's Library but without results..

There's no limit other than of course when you start to run out of memory. I've used it with over 200kb of data and it works well and is quite fast even with large amounts of data!

Really thanks for your answer! I had the same impression, but could not be sure about it because of the absence of explicit references..

Anyway, this is surely a great thing, expecially if performance is good as you say!

just out of curiosity, have you tried loading xml formatted data into the value of a pref variable?

Nope, I haven't. You'd have to parse it into a DOM tree yourself if you stored it as the raw XML text though. However you might want to consider storing JavaScript objects as JSON strings..
