CTelephony api calls at startup : Should they work or crash?

Hi,
I am loading an executable at device startup. This executable makes some calls into CTelephony apis to query some network parameters. But the executable crashes. If we remove these calls the executable loads fine!!
So shouldn't the CTelephony apis be called at startup at all?
Shouldn't these apis just return empty values or some error instead of crashing?

While ODD it shows
"signal exception 0" and then
"A data abort exception occured"
No category is shown!!!

maybe you could add some delay to see whether the problem is caused by some modules not been loaded while you try accessing them.

Earlier with 2nd edition it was usually good advice to wait untill you saw the phone process running, before doing anything really..

We are developing this app in India and there is a testing team in US,which is testing the app on US networks using the US specific N-series devices.
So while the code works fine on the device in India(Actually its a "Made in finland" device!!), its crashing on the N-series devices in the US(3 N-series devices tested on)!!!
Could this be a firmware specific issue?

you have to get logs where it crashing. so put some logs run it on US phones get the log and find out where it is crashing.
