Procedure for signing the midlet applications

Hi,

Can anyone help me out in signing the midlet applications.

I have followed the below procedure:
From the J2ME wireless toolkit - Sign -
First I created a key pair
Then generated the CSR file
Then submitted the CSR file to Verisign for free SSL trail certificate
Then tried to import the certificate returned from versign.

But I am getting error as "Cannot create own certificate"

Is the procedure correct??
Please help me

You can follow these steps,

Signing MIDP Applications with the WTK

1. Open KToolbar, and choose Project | Sign.
2. Select the “New Key Pair” button to generate a new key pair.
3. Enter your key alias, your name, and company information, and click the “Create” button.
4. Press “Generate CSR” This is the certificate signing request.
5. Click “Browse” to choose a location for the CSR file, and press “Create” to write the CSR file.
6. Head to Verisign (or Thawte) and begin the enrollment process for a code signing ID. You’ll copy the CSR file contents and paste them directly into the Verisign enrollment form. Pay them their fee, and then they’ll verify your identity, and e-mail you back a certificate.
7. Back in KToolbar, choose Project | Sign.
8. Import the certificate by pressing “Import Certificate.”
9. To sign your MIDlet suite, you will first package it.
10. Then choose Project | Sign.
11. From the Alias List, select the key you just imported, and click “Sign MIDlet Suite.”

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.
I have checked these links earlier.
To sign a midlet application we need to buy a code signing id from Thawte and Verisign.
I have checked with Thawte and Verisign and they say they not provide free trail code signing certificates.
Is there no alternative for this?
I want free trail certificates so that I can test my application and then go for buying the certificates.

I tried it but it did not work well. If you just want to use for testing then thawte and verising used to give 100% money back if we return them. Please let us know if openSSL commands works well at your side.
