Nokia 5800 - Camera Snapshot

Dear All,

I have developed a J2ME software that takes snapshots using the Multimedia API (JSR-135).

I have been successfully taken pictures with Nokia devices N95, N80, N73, E66 and other devices on the Nokia remote device access.

The problem now I am having is to make it compatible on the Nokia 5800. When I want to take a picture with the 5800, I press the "take picture" button (as I do with other devices) but I need "quit" the program (for example click on menu/white button) and get back in the program (by pressing on the white button again) to have the camera triggered.

Is there something that I need to add in the program or in the jad file?
Any other trick to take picture in J2ME with the nokia 5800?

Hi!

We have an application that takes cameras snapshots on all S40, S60, Sony-Ericssons and other mobile phones. However, when we tried the Nokia 5800 we suffered from the same problem

We've tried several workarounds with no success. Any help?

Sounds like that model has a bad case of the 'need my firmware updated'
Could cause uselessness if left untreated.

There seems to be issues on 5800 snapshots. a known issue is in the works and the dev team is aware of the problem. No workaround exists as of now. Unfortunately.

Outch.. very sad.. such a advanced phone.. coming out with such a issue.. Is 5800 MMAPI complient..this would have been the min test done to get MMAPI complience certificate.

if 5800 vesion is 20.0.025.1 this problem is exist?

The same issues exists even in the latest software update i.e V 30.0.011

You now have some solution.. though JRT.

Install the new J2ME JVM for nokia at http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia...ime-20-for-s60

and this seems to solve mmapi camera snap issue. it works for us on 5800 with latest firmware i.e 30.xxxx

However this approach would mean your clients to isntall JRT first and then your application.
