    Hi guys,

Having read lots of posts in many threads on Forum Nokia, I have an impression that the only way to auto-install a application package from a removable storage card (e.g., E:\), and then auto-launch the installed application right after the auto-installation done, is by using the "Silence Install" technique. Now the implementation works as expected. However as this technique's name implied, the auto-install process goes silently without giving user's permission (popping up a "Yes/Abort" message box before the installation starts). My question is how to ask user's permission after the installer being automatically launched from the removable card but before the installation (or copying) started, and at the same time remain the capability to automatically launch right after auto-installation completed?

    Thanks in advance,
    Henry

bottom line is you might not do it. AFAIK pre-installed applications do not allow RI in the PKG

I have read them all and much more from Nokia Forum and Internet; unless I missed something, there is no documented solution from either Nokia or Symbian for this requirement:

    1. PA package suppressed the FR and RI so the application won't autostart after the package got installed.
    2. SA in that private folder is defined and intepreted as "silence install"; the sisx will be auto-launched but user won't be asked before installation starts.
    3. Symbian Signed requires (?) you have to get approval from end user before the installation start.

Seems a conflict of interest or a hole in the logic within the solution...

I really hope so and love to know how. If not, can anyone confirm it?

    Thanks,
    Henry

Sorry I missed the question mark for item 3 since I only heard people talked about this requirement. Does anyone actually get rejected by Symbian Signed Test House just because of the "silence installation"?

    Thanks,
    Henry
