Saving SMS in system inbox without sending it on Series 40

I want to save a text string (formatted as an SMS message) directly into the SMS inbox. Is this possible using J2ME with a Series 40 phone such as Nokia 6131? I do not actually want to send or receive the SMS message, I just want to save it. Should I open a fileconnection and write it to the inbox directory or is there another way? How do i find out what the inbox directory is? I am fairly new to J2ME development so a basic code snipet would be very helpful.

please read the bold lines point by point...and give the answer for the same.
1.What does it mean?
You can not access the inbox in Java ME...
by the way there are other places where you can save the same text on device...like RMS or FileConnection..

2.please explain.....
until and unless you will not send the sms nothing can be send to the inbox..
sms will be deliver in the inbox if you send the same without a specific port..

3.Again explain...
Please make a note that there is no relation between the inbox and the FileConnection

Total summery is you can not access the inbox in J2ME.
AFA the saving of the text is concern you can save the same in RMS or File..

I don't think you can simulate incoming text messages in J2ME. Though, it is possible in Symbian.

Thank you for the info. It looks like I can't do exactly what I'd want so I will use RMS instead. The links were very useful. Also, can you tell me if a copy of an sms message is automatically saved in the "sent messages" file when an sms is sent? I am just using the Nokia simulator so I can't tell if this happens.

Hey Again you have a bed luck.The sms you send will never be saved in the sent items list...neither you can save in drafts ..nothing..
you can try the symbian c++.

I am bummed I thought Java ME was my only choice for Series 40 phone (Nokia 6131). Can I use Symbian with the emulator??
