    Hi,

I need to get the IMEI number using JME on Nokia series 40 platform.
I read that I need to have my midlet signed to either operator or manufacturer domain (http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...MEI_in_Java_ME).
How can I get my midlet signed by nokia (I can't be operator dependent)?

    Thanks

To have your midlet signed to operator or manufacturer domain you would need to be an operator or manufacturer (or an operator or manufacturer would have to supply your application as though it were their own).

In short, you have no access to the IMEI as a regular Java ME application. This is deliberate. It is both a security protection for the phone, and also a privacy protection for the user (as defined by Sun).

You can however get access to the IMEI if you use Symbian C++.

I need the IMEI to identify a phone. The phone is used as a point of sell for payment services.
I have seen that it is possible to get manufacturer capabilities for a symbian application http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n..._0_en.pdf.html

and I cannot find something similar for jme applications...

Quite right. There is no similar process to get manufacturer signing for Java MIDlets. Nokia will only sign MIDlets Nokia decides to distributed with/for the devices, but there's process to get it if Nokia has not decided to distribute your app.
