Hi,

I wonder if it is possible to read GPS data from serial port with php. I have came across a piece of php code that opens serial ports under Windows or BSD but I cannot find any equivalent for S60 (3rd ed). What are the appropriate ways to read data from BT GPS without installing also python?

I understand that mod_python is by default installed with MWS. In absence of any hint on how to collect data from a Blue Tooth GPS directly with php, I'll be using a python script called via AJAX from a php-generated interface.

I'm not an expert at all, but I had this same problem and what I did is to create a python script running in background that uses a PHP running in localhost to make INSERTs into a database.
I use the database as an interface to share GPS information.

One hint. I used REPLACE instead of INSERT to save the information into de database. I saw that after 800 inserts, the table was not usable anymore (64KB).

So, I use a kind of RoundRobin database, so it never has more than 500 rows in my table.

Share your approach when you have it. Maybe I will change my mind with my sharing-through-DB module.
