You don't need to sign your application to get access to the Cell ID. You do need a phone that provides a System Property with the information. Not all phones provide the System Property and most manufacturers that do provide one use a different Property name.

I'm currently conducting a survey about Cell ID usage... can you tell me which Cell ID database you are using (or want to use)? If anyone else would like to chip in please do, you can email me the info if you'd like; michael.moore@navteq.com

Signing is not needed to get this info on Series 60 devices.

Signing is needed to get this info on Series 40s, and the signature must be from Nokia. However, Nokia will not sign your application, unless you are working directly for them. In practical terms, this means you cannot get the cell ID on Series 40 devices.

    Cheers,
    Graham.
