The confusing thing about Java on WinMob is: Microsoft do not supply it. The manufacturer of the device must get a Java runtime from another source. Several companies provide Java runtime software for Windows Mobile.

Particularly confusing is that two devices of the same model may have a different Java runtimes if they come from different operators.

That said, most Windows Mobile devices ship with Java support, and will support at least CLDC-1.0 and MIDP-2.0. Some will support more.

    Ultimately: try it and see.

    Cheers,
    Graham.

yup even the most recent (and expensive) devices (for example the XPeria and the HTC Diamond) do ship with a Java runtime but it doenst even supprot JSR179, whilst both do have an internal GPS
