Hello,

When I press the pound or hash key to make it silent, what it does instead is ask me if I want to change the outgoing phone line. Why does't it just makes it silent?

Your network probably supports having to phone "lines" with one SIM card. When that's the case, then a long press of the '#' is used for switching between Line 1 and Line 2, and no longer to switch between General and Silent profiles. Nothing you can do about it, except changing to some other network operator (service provider) which doesn't support two phone lines.
