    Hi all,

I have to develope an application which should be able to cut and merge a larger image into a smaller one depending on where at the picture the user have zoomed. Next I have to map this image on some kind af sphere (like a ball or maybe and egg) from where I should be able to navigating from (and therefore continuously recalculated how the picture should be cutted and merged).

Which IDE should i develope in? Netbeans, QT or something else?
And therefore also; which ad- and disadvantes is there between Java and C++?

What are the ad- and disadvantages in OpenGL vs Java Mobile 3D Graphics API?

I use to develope in C# (which I know not is a possibility here) and have earlier developed in Java, but only a bit in C++. Anyway I'm willing to try C++, if there is more advantages...

Personally i would prefer C++ development rather than Java since C++ is more native to Symbian and most of the features in Symbian can be accessed in C++ rather than Java...Things which cudn't be done by Java can be done by C++....

And when it comes for IDE i would bet 100% for Carbide2.0 ..It's free and easy to use and now there is an UI designer too...

Regarding grafix, if ur application operates on pixel/graphical data and u need ur app to be robust go for OpenGL...
You have a dedicated OpenGL framework in Symbian C++ tooo......

1st you have to decide which platform you want to develop (Symbian.C++ or Java etc) then you can decide on IDE.

I think I will develop in Symbian.C++. I know java better than C++, and therefor my first thought was to develop in J2ME, but it looks like there are more advantages in C++. Therefore the language properly will be C++, even though I havn't done much in C++ yet. Comments to that?

If you decideded that you want to start developing on Symbian.C++ then Only thing i can say is do consider the disadvantages and advantages of J2ME and Symbian.c++.

If you want to develop Symbian.C++ then Carbide.c++ is the Best IDE at this time.

Its depends on you to choose IDE. Generally JAVA gauys prefer carbide and .net guys prefer Visiual studio, since they have hands-on experiance on respectibe IDE (look and feel of carbide is same as of eclipse).
