Recording downlink telephony audio...

I am attempting to write an application that isolates the incoming telephony downlink audio and record/buffer it without having the data mixed with the microphone audio. The Symbian 9.4 SDK says that this ability was removed as of version 7.0s. Does anyone have any idea why this feature was removed and if there is a current-work around that does not involve muting the microphone?

As far as I know, you can do it with mic muting with 3rd ed MR & FP1: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...dition_devices

With 3rd ed FP2-> the mic muting mute sthe downlink as well, currently I don't think there is any workaround.
