need help basics

Hi,
Iam new to symbian cpp and have one doubt
i am writing an application that fetch contact from the phone and send it a server via gprs
so i have heard of s60, series 60 fp2, fp3 etc. i guess these are various versions of symbian os in the phone.
so if i want to write an app which will be supported by maximum number of phones which one should I choose
s60 fp2,fp3, s40 etc..

S40 does not have symbian OS. So u have only option of S60 2nd and 3rd edition.

Goto wiki and search word "contact". you will get lots of example from there to get contact from contact book.

Try to execute HelloWorld example comes with sdk.
In sdk help you can find details about the HelloWorld example, this will give you a good idea about coding in symbian.

A useful suggestion regarding how to learn SYmbian, but the actual question was which SDK platform to choose to target the maximum number of phones.
