    Hi,

I've run through the 'Getting started with Qt for S60' web page (here), but cannot get the application running.

I've done all that it asks, but fail right near the bottom where it saya 'Output'. I cannot get it to appear in the emulator. Every time I push the green 'Run Emulator' button it says 'Errors exist in the required project. COntinue launch?' looking at the code it appears there's a problem with the line (at least I think so as it's underlined in red) 'void Hello::ShowHelloText()'.

How do I get this program to run in the emulator?

    Cheers,

    Northers.

P.S. I'm using the 3rd edition S60 SDK FP1 - is this where the problem stems from?

That page describe How to started Qt for S60 not how to install/configure Qt for S60. Have you configured Qt properly on your machine?? I hope you followed the steps mentioned in following link.

    Hi Savaj,

Yes i've already gone through the configuration document which is why I can't understand where the problem is.

When I press the green 'play' button a dialog titled 'Errors in Workspace' appears stating: -

Errors exist in a required project, Continue launch?

Pressing Yes here starts the emulator, but it closes shortly after and nothing appears to have happened.

In the 'Problems' pane along the bottom i've got the follwoing: -

    Error creating the file: Hello.exe
mwldsym2.exe: The process cannot access the file bacause it is being used by another process.

Does this point you in the right direction?

Right, I think i've sussed out the error listed previously. It was to do with the emulator keeping 'hello.exe' open as it seemed to compile without fault the first time only.

I can now get it to run without fault, but the emulator appears then disappears, is this normal?

If I then start the emulator from Start Menu>All Programs>S60 Developer Tools>3rd Edition FP1 SDK>1.0>Emulator and look in Menu>Installed I find the 'Hello' program, but any attempt to run it from here shuts down the emulator!

Any ideas what i'm doing wrong here?

I've enabled the emulator to create the file and located it after running the program, but how do I use the file? I cannot open it with anything and it is zero bytes in size.

    Now i'm even more confused!

Epocwind.out is a text file and you can open it in any text editor to check logs created by emulator.

I'm clearly looking at the wrong file then!

Where exactly is the file located?

Got it , I was looking in completely the wrong place!

The last line in the file says: -

    91.240 FAULT: nkern.cpp 0x0000059c (1436)

This means nothing to me though. Any ideas?

You may get complete guide about epocwind.out here.

Some times the error "FAULT: nkern.cpp" is observed by use of estlib.lib. you may refer this thread for more details.
