get Mobile Operator company name from mobile number

Hi to all
I m new to symbian c++ 2nd edition.
I want to get Mobile Operator company name from mobile number. i.e when any one receive call from any number or dial call to any number i want that mobile number's company name like Vodafone,Airtel etc......
Is there anyone who can help me

2nd edition I can not remember seeing any public API, with 3rd edition you could get the operator name with CTelephony API.

It is not possible to get name of operator/network from cell number.

yep that is absolutely correct.. Anyway if you can get IMSI from the card (no public API with 2nd edition either), you can get the country & Operator ID's that are unique, also Cell ID would give you the same information, thuogh you would need to have your own database to make any human readable strings out from them.

all and all, all 2nd edition devices are rather old already, so if you would change to the 3rd edition, you could get the string rather easily with CTelephony, and without having any active calls on..

Nowadays mobile operators usually offer the possibility of keeping the mobile number when you are changing to a different operator. Practically it is impossible to do what you need.

Yep, and that's why it is better to be done with an API (CTelephony), or by getting the network IDs from IMSI or CellID.

The question is about dialed and received calls, so your own network does not matter.
