    Hi,

All Nokia Java enabled phones support MIDP and Nokia UI API. MIDP provides APIs for http connection so you can make an application that you described for all Nokia MIDP enabled phones. I think 3510i might be a good choice for you. One restriction in 3510i is that it doesn't support cable or infrared connection. So you must deploy applications to 3510i using WAP. Please see more details about Nokia Java phones from www.forum.nokia.com -> Java -> Java Phones. The most of the Nokia phones are listed there.

3510i supports png image format only.

    Best Regards,

    Hi,

I know there are such cables available. Please read the Hanttila's comment from the Java Enabled Phones section.

"Using different kind unsupported cables and softwares are not good choise. Using of those may cause serious damage to the phone (trust me, I have seen several sad cases) and it affects to guarantee. Mobile phones are quite complicated devices nowadays, so hacking the system with some kind of unsupported tunings is not option (that's my opinion). I suppose that you will use standard ways to start deploying content to your phone."

So you make the decision yourself...

It depends on network and the size of the midlet how long it takes to download it. If you are downloading the maximum size of midlet for 3510i (64kB) over GPRS the whole process may take about a minute or less. CSD connection is slower. Both ways are supported by the 3510i.

Feel free to ask more questions :-)
