    Hi,

I just join with a NOKIA phone application base on the Symbian OS.
I will have a plan to create a Network Media player of the NOKIA phone.

The application will be used H.264 Video decode to transfered Media data by TCP/IP protocal.

The development IDE for the application are Windows XP & Carbide C++ 2.0.

I would like to know what is the best IDE for the application?
Also, is it possible to make the appplication? Because I don't have a H.264 Decode codec.

If you have an any Idea, please give the informatons for the project.

    Thank you.

For the H.264 codec you can make use of the OpenC/C++ plugin, which makes it possible to use conventional C/C++ code in Symbian - then you can experiment with various open-source projects, like FFMPEG for example.

    Hi,

You can make use of Carbide IDE or Visual Studio with Carbide.vs (If you are familiar with VS).

It is possible to make such an application and there are some applications in market too.

If you don't have an H.264 Decoder - you can first start with working on that, as this would be the core part of your project along with TCP/IP protocol Implementation.

For the decoder part - you can port it to Symbian using Open C plugins. And then later on you can start building the application using the ported decoder.

The part about Visual Studio may be right but only if kamalakshan managed to acquire from Nokia the redistribution rights for Carbide.vs and is offering it now from his blog together with the needed support

Otherwise Carbide.vs is no longer supported.
