For starters, thanks for the IDE.
Now to the stuff where I am lost.
I downloaded the "Carbide.c++ v2.0" IDE, and when the installation was complete my broser popped up "file:///C:/Programme/Nokia/Carbide.c++%20v2.0/readme/readme_sdks.html".
I downloaded & installed:
"ActivePerl-5.6.1.635"
"3rd Edition, FP1 (355 MB)" ... (no mention of 5th edition as noted above)
Then I started the IDE ...
It said that it had to be restarted for new plugins, so I said OK, and it restarted as expected.
Being new to this, I wanted to load an example and make sure that everything was working, so I selected:
File -> New -> Symbian OS C++ Project -> [Tutorials] S60 Birthdays Tutorial with UI Designer
I called the project "BirthdayTut" and off it went creating all the files.
Then I get errors in "BirthdaysList.cpp" one of which is ->
Creation Time Description Resource Path Location Type
1247266596715 undefined identifier 'KBirthdaytut_aifFile' BirthdaysList.cpp BirthdayTut/src line 358 C/C++ Problem"
Then I go for the other tutorial "S60 Yaahoo! Image Search Tutorial with UI Designer" ...
At least this creates a startable application.
So I am wondering if I missed some undocumented step here ?
The BirthdayTut didn't work (or even compile) from the start.
The Yaahoo tutorial application seemed (well, at least for me) to have a few navigation issues (probably related to my being new to the emulator).
I've done C/C++/Java/J2ME before and want to move into the realms of native Symbian programming (getting a N97 next week, so I didn't want my development to be limited to J2ME's capabilites) and I feel that the IDE leaves a lot to be desired (not to mention the Birthday tutorial).
Where can I best read up and get acquainted with the IDE + application development process using "Carbide.c++ v2.0" ?
I need some direction as how to progress here.
(currently feeling a bit lost + overwhelmed)
PS the link "developer.uiq.com" only shows "Apache is functioning normally"![]()
