the best option would be to write the settings into a file and store them in the application folder where no body can access it.

oh sorry i misusnderstood you.

You can use both forms give a good lock but you need to save the data in the menu options before doing any other actions.

Query give you a simple look and not complicated for the user. what you want to use depends on your need.
