Can some one guided me in Nokia and android?

I am an Engineer working in both Nokia and Android Environment.

Is there any expert how can guided me in both?

In Nokia:

In S60 3rd FP2 phone i able get Cell-Id, but couldn't get Location Area Code(LAC). According to Nokia Library we couldn't get Location Area Code(LAC) for 3G enabled mobile. Even-though my mobile having 3G, my network not 3G enabled. Is there anyway to get LAC?


In Android:

Just started developing location(Cell-Id,Lac) based application using android SDK.

I thought of purchase a android mobile for testing my application.

The CECT G1 mobile seems cheaper, i am wondering whether theses kind application can run on these mobiles?

anyone could help me out on this?

what is the LAC, the Cell id has countrycode+operator code +operator area code + unique cell id in the area ?

And no Androids here, Nokia does not make adroind devices, so developers here are mainly concentrating on Symbian C++, QT, Flash, Java MIDP, Maemo C and of course Web development.

operator Area codes as I understand them are included in the Cell ID results, though, they are operator specific, and could be that they are non-public information, and can change without any notice, so I don't really think I would poses any informatoin that would make them more usable for you, unless I have understood something on your requirements wrongly.

In sony ericsson mobile i can able get all 4 values(Cell-Id,Location area code(LAC), Mobile country code, Mobile network code).

But in nokia i am getting only 3 values(Cell-Id, Mobile country code, Mobile network code).

If operator Area code included in cell-id, i should get different cell-id value when compared to sony ericsson, but i am getting the same cell-id value in both sony and nokia.

Why would the Cell-ID be different in different devices ?, it is the ID of the Cell-tower indeed. Anyway I'm rather sure CTelephony API does give the location area code for the network, so which API and how are you using it ?
