Infrared Problems

Im trying to send images via infrared to various fones but as yet im not having any luck.

First I tried to send to a 5100 but even though both fones are next to each other (we have tried various distances also) and both fones have infrared active it keeps coming up sending failed.

Next I tried a Sharp GX10 and the same message appears.

Then I tried a Panasonic GD87 and I still get the same message so I know that it is mine that has the problem.

Can anyone help?
