WAP Gateway requirements for MMS support

Are there any specific requirements that a WAP Gateway must satisfy in order to work with MMS services (smth like WAP version or anything else)?

I know there is Nokia Activ Server 2.1 WAP Gateway. Does it support MMS messages?

To work with MMSC, the WAP Gateway needs to be able to support WAP 1.2 to push the alert to the mobile phone by SMS.

Nokia Activ Server 2.1 WAP Gateway can be used with MMSC in testing environment. But it is not suitable for handling large amount traffic in operator environment.
