when I run my application on the N97, I notice that the pointer of the application do not match by approximately 0.5cm from the place I press, is that common?

If you have the problem with all the apps then try to do a screen calibration ("Menu > Settings > Phone > Touch Input > Touch Screen Calibration"), if the problem can not be resolved then ask customer services for help.
