you can actually choose your preferred distribution channel for WRT widgets, as long as final users are able to download them to their devices. As for the OVI Store, being available on most Nokia handsets, it can surely help you to give great exposure to your widget, and so to maximize downloads.

You might contact traditional mobile software outlets like Handango and see if they will add the WRT application type and mime-type to their system for downloads. They may already support it in their system.
