Loading bar

Hi,
I want to create something similar to a loading bar. Something like how a simple mailbox application shows a running bar while fetching your mail. I have written my own progress bar in a canvas, but I dont want to implement it on a canvas.I want it on a small dialogue, similar to an appuifw.note. Any help is appreciated.

I understand exactly what you are saying, I have the same problem.
Some weeks ago I was thinking about using globalui module, for instance globalui.global_note(u"Checking email","wait").
But I could not find any way to indicate to globalui.global_note that my task was finished.

Thanks for the info about globalui. I think what you could do now is, once u know u have retrieved your information and u can close the wait box, u can simulate a right keypress so that the waitbox goes away and u can display what ever u need to.

Yes, I think it is possible. But, if we need to add an extension anyway (keypress), may be better to use the Bodgan's suggestion (dialog).

There is an interesting article regarding extensions and dialogs progress here.

In fact I would like to see these features (and several other cool extensions) integrated in PyS60.
