microphone volume in N97

Hello, is there any settings in Nokia N97 for adjusting microphone volume. I am writing an application that records the sound and write into the wav file. After that I parse the wav file and read the amplitutes. I just want to check whether the microphone settings for N97 is fixed or there is an intensity parameter (quantized such as starting from level 1 to level 5 etc...)

If there exist such intensity parameter I need to adjust my application with respect to that. In this case is there any API to read this intensity parameter.

AFAIK there is no Mic volume settings, though recording APIs often has settings for Gain.
