Hi Austin,
When we transfer voice through voip technology, it is transferred through ordinary internet lines. Our voice the analogue signals are digitized and then transported through the internet lines. At destination or sink, the are again converted in to their original analogue form. Like all other data on internet, voip data can also be hacked. Good news is it happens once in a blue moon. Experts have developed again and again tested ultra sophisticated techniques to prevent the data so you should not worry about the security of data.

Atleast in 6300i, the internet call icon has a "lock" in it if the call is encrypted. If there is no "lock" then the call is not encrypted and it could be eavesdropped by someone.
