If you are starting with Symbian programming this book might help you.

Once you are clear with this install the 5th Ed SDK and check examples in that. Try with a basic helloworld app and then check how pointer events are handled and so on.

Have you gone through the 5th Edition SDK document. If it does not contain information you are looking for. Please specify exactly what info you require.
