    Hi,

m new to the Java micro development. I want to use mobile's center button to perform the same task as done by my NEXT button handler. Currently the things are being handled in commandAction.
Can anyone please guide me as how to achieve this?

    Thanks in advance.

Please remember that people reply here in their spare time, so you might have to wait a little while to get a reply.

As a rule, you cannot decide where Commands appear (on which softkeys). Each device decides how to place them, according to the Command type and priority, based on their own user interface convention.

What device are you using, and what devices do you intend your application to work on?

What kind of Displayable object (Canvas, List, Form, ...) are you displaying?

    Graham.

I am afraid remapping the keys might be somewhat difficult, and if you are planning to use the standard MIDP classes/methods (like COmmands, CommandListener or whatever) it actually would be impossible...
3rd party GUI libraries have those options but those actually rely on their own GUI elements, whcih are mostly based on Canvas and thus can remap the pressed keys...
So you might want to have a look at these...

    Hi,

Thanks for your replies.. the issue is resolved my a tricky way of using key codes. I was doin it for S 60 devices

Graham - I understand that but I was just too much involved in developing the code which made me littl unpatient. :P

Tiger - I would see thru the libraries you mentioned.. seems intersting stuff in thr...

Thanks both of you... lookin forward for your help in my future..
