I'm working on a commercial application using Python and a bit of C++. Right now we're decided to go with 1.4.5 as the 1.9.7 runtime is way too big (almost 3 MB compared to 600 KB in 1.4.5). Apart from that, the new branch does not seem to offer many new features, aside from being based on Python 2.5 instead of 2.2.
I've been working with 1.4.x version in the past (Ped, appuifw2) so I know this version pretty well. But maybe there's something I've missed when looking at 1.9.7 (only recently). If some of you guys know it better and would like to enlighten me if there are some real benefits to it and what to do about its size, I would be very thankful.
Cheers,
yak
