Change application name

Hi, Could you please tell me how to do that.?

How to change the application name in device.? I tried clean the project, edited app_template.rss file with my app_name and built, but it resets to the previous name.

Please tell in detail.

Hi Balaji,

Please describe your problem in detail. Do you want to change the name you see in the Applications menu? If so then, did you change the string in *.rls file? You would find qtn_caption_string in the *.rls file, there you need to change the string with your desired string.

you mean *.rss file? or *.rls?

Where can I find *.rls file?

In *.rls file, wherever I change the string, it resets to previous one when I compile.

sorry i am using Qt for s60. I will shift this question to the corresponding thread. Meanwhile if u know how to do that kindly help me.

How to change my application name?

When i tried to use setApplicationName(), it doesn't work. Also tried changing in *.rss file, but it resets when i build.

What I wanted is application name in the s60 device should change.

Please help me how to change the application name?

Well, I tried it again and it worked again. I modified the strings in the *.loc file and it works fine. Though I found following glitches:

1 ) Even though I changed both Short caption and caption strings, I could see the new name only in the "Applications" folder where you can see other installed application with their icons. It did not change the name of the application in the caption(where we open the application and see in the status bar)

2) Somehow it caches the old name. It means that I had to restart the device to see the new name.

PS: I am using Carbide.c++ v2.4, Qt for Symbian 4.6.1

Is it must that carbide.c++ to be 2.4... i'm using 2.0 and qt4.6.1
