    Or has the world moved on enough to allow text based encoding of MMSes? I see refs in the later specs from the OMA, that binary SHALL and text COULD be supported...
    How would I find out, knowing only the URL of the MMS provider?

    If I were to implement an MMS based solution, should I just be doing it binary as that is known to work?

    Hello cjard,

    In the MMS Encapsulation Specification, one of the last statements of the intro states;
    "Textual encoding of MMS PDUs is out of scope of this specification."

    This may be confusing by the following statement: "A device implementing OMA MMS 1.1 must
    support text/plain MIME type according to [MMSENC]. This enables a basic messaging service."

    What that means is, text/plain needs to be supported in form of one of the content type
    objects inside of the MMS structure. In the MMS message there is a header, followed by a
    multipart collection of one or more objects.

    That statement plain says that text/plain must be supported as one of the content objects
    within the MMS message.

    Does this come close to what you might have been after?
